NEW YEAR/NEW YOU ~ Winter Skincare

NEW YEAR/NEW YOU
~ Winter Skincare ~
Winter is the season that wreaks absolute havoc on our skin, so I thought I would share with you a few of my favourite skincare tips and products to keep your skin looking radiant and luminous all winter long . . .
Use a Gentle Daily Cleanser
Cleansing is an essential part of your beauty routine. Central heating, cold weather and harsh winds can be hard on your skin; making it dry, dull, chapped, sore and irritable. Using harsh cleansers that contain sulphates, preservatives and alcohols can be very drying to your skin and your lips. It is so important that you find a gentle daily cleanser, which won’t strip your skin and provide it with the extra nourishment it needs.
A gentle daily cleanser that I would recommend is: Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water RRP €5.30
Available in pharmacies nationwide.
Moisturise! Moisturise! Moisturise!
If you want a glowing, radiant complexion all year round, a great moisturizer is essential. A good skincare routine will help to restore and replenish any moisture lost in your skin. During the winter months in particular, it is definitely worth splurging on the really good stuff! When it comes to skincare, you get what you pay for. When you are looking for a suitable moisturiser, always look for products that contain both moisturising and anti-inflammatory ingredients that will help relieve flakiness and irritation. Lets calm those rosy cheeks!
A moisturiser that I would recommend is: Lancôme Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Moisturising Cream with SPF15 RRP €54. (Don't forget in that in those winter months, your skin still needs SPF protection.)
Available in Debenhams and selected Boots pharmacies
Go Easy on the Powders!
For your daily make-up routine in the winter months, it can be better to stay away from too many powders. If you have oily skin, I suggest you change to a lighter setting-powder. However, if you are like myself and are on the dry/dehydrated spectrum, it has to be cream products all the way. In the colder weather, powder blush for instance can dry out your skin and appear blotchy; instead you should look for a cream blush with a velvety finish. Also, remember that your already-rosy cheeks do not need any extra red tones in winter. It is better to opt for a cream blusher with peachy hues rather than red.
One cream product that I would recommend is: Mac Cremeblend Blush in shades Ladyblush (neutral tone) or Something Special (peachy tone). Available at all MAC counters
Night-Time Care
It’s when you are sleeping that your skin is working the hardest! Your skin is most active at night in order to repair itself, making night-time the best time of the day for you to indulge in your skincare routine. Personally, I am loving over-night serums and face masks at the moment (if you follow me on Snapchat, you’ll know!). These products give your skin the much-needed boost it needs and they basically do the all the work while you sleep… simple! I love seeing and feeling the results in the morning when I wake up. Also, by practicing a good routine and moisturizing at night, your foundation will apply so much smoother in the morning… win win. For an indulging treatment, I recommend an intense hydration mask once a week.
One of my all-time favourites is: Nip+Fab Dragons Bood Fix Mask RRP €9.95. Available in pharmacies nationwide
